Fireplace Dilemma

I have a fireplace in my new place. Yeay! It’s wood burning (very uncommon in Vancouver) and a corner unit.  Right now there is not much going on as far as design elements, but I need to feature it up a bit. I like this concept, what do you think? I would still leave the firebox, but flank the sides with chopped wood.
