Michael's Humble Abode

Take a tour of Michael Buble’s beautiful home. It’s subtle, modern, masculine and understated; layers of greys and soft textures. Michael’s mother is to thank for this cool space as she did all the decorating. Props mom!

Pretty lights at the cafeteria (I like things that sparkle ;)

Rediculously cool METALLIC wood plank flooring from BC Hardwood. How amazing is this?

Lovely tables ... and I can't remember where they're from. The walls behind are chalkboard!

Last weekend I attended IDSWest here in Vancouver with a few talented design friends including Amanda Swanland from Twenty One Two Designs inc., Allison Mark from Portico Design Group and Sofia Dmytriw from Polygon. I was fortunate enough to listen to the ever inspiring Suzanne Dimma, Editor in Chief for House & Home Magazine as well as the very talented Kelly Deck from Kelly Deck Designs. I also had a chance to check out some of the vendors at the show. Here are some pics I snapped of some very cool and beautiful design!

Concrete and Reclaimed

I appreciate these spaces for their refined use of material and pulled-back design. They may be a little stark for me to enjoy in my own home but the simplistic design lends itself to a very serine living environment. It allows you to actually take notice of the lines, the tonal values and the way the light reacts within the interior.

Balancing Act

This residence has a very fine balance between feminine and masculine that I find very appealing. There is an overall softness to these two interior spaces designed by Architects Janson Goldstein.
The deep colours are not over-baring or too dark, but instead they have hit the right tone to create a misty ambience that is subdued and restful.  The cocktail tables in the living space make an absolute statement in the room. They add a visual softness to an otherwise ridged vignette. One is made from teak and the two in the foreground are made from slabs of selenite.  The symmetry of the windows and the two sofas creates a comfortable ease that is still slightly formal.
The Library looking through to the living space is a room I could die for (and definitely inspiration for my sister and brother-in-law’s new place). I adore all the organized chaos and appreciate everything having its place. I also love the way the bookshelves frame the next room as if it were a piece of art or a view from a window.

Dreamy White Kitchens

There is something wonderful about a fresh white kitchen. It’s a beautiful backdrop to all the colourful delicacies that will be prepared there. It’s much like having white flatware at a fine dining restaurant and letting the food take center stage.

I like the idea of spending time baking or preparing a meal in a nice bright area of the house or enjoying an early morning coffee in one of these sun-drenched rooms.
